Why MTV and I are no longer friends

There are few things in life that bring me total joy.  TV is clearly one of them. Cheesecake.  Gangs of baby kitties causing a raucous outside when it’s nice.  And Fat Camp.  Yes, I said it.  Fat Camp has remained on my DVR since the last time it was on.  It is my new default go-to feel good thing to watch when there’s nothing else on.  MTV feels the need to NEVER show it, which is why it has a permanent place on my DVR.  And now, to boot, MTV has followed up Fat Camp with a sequel: Return to Fat Camp.

So here’s how I found out it was on today.  I’m channel surfing while watching True Life on MTV because there really isn’t much else on, and I happen to notice that the listing on MTV says “7-9pm: Return to Fat Camp.”  At this point I’m getting excited and nearly dying from laughing because I can’t wait to watch the sequel.  I set my DVR to record from 7-9, so, even though I’m planning on watching it, it will also have a permanent home where I can watch it whenever.  I cook dinner.  Then, when True Life ends, MTV displays in the corner of the screen what the next show is going to be.  According to my Comcast menu guide, it was another True Life.  According to MTV, it was My Super Sweet 16.  At this point, I just KNOW that my hopes are about to be dashed to hell.  I immediately check MTV’s website only to find out that new Fat Camp won’t be on until 8 pm.

I can’t say this is the first time it’s happened either.  EVERY day, there’s some schedule change or ginormous difference between what the Comcast guide says is on and what is actually on.

For this reason, MTV and I are not friends.
