Moonlight catching stride

Mick St. James. The words “yummy” and “delicious” come to mind. I guess I’m a vampire groupie. Well, the fictional kind, anyway.

Moonlight has really maintained a steady pace over the last 2 episodes. I felt it started a little slowly, and I wasn’t positive how far or how long it would run. But it has become a Friday night DVR favorite of mine.

In the most recent episode, Mick St. James tries to avoid Beth, but to no avail. They run into each other, inadvertently working on the same case looking for the same missing person, but from a different angle. This episode was very consistent. It’s easy to notice that the actors are beginning to fit into their characters and find a rhythm that makes their interactions believable.

What I am intrigued by most is the vampire mythology they’ve created to fit with the show. They realized that framing everything in the dark is difficult (remember Angel? We never got to see David Boreanaz in the sunlight.) So as a quick fix, they state once or twice that vampires can be in the sun, but too much direct sunlight will kill them. Hence Mick sinking his teeth into Beth’s arm. Instinctually, he wanted to live because he was dying. By way of which an intimate moment was had, thus creating tension between Mick and Beth and making the vampire lore fit in with the tension and the realistic plot.

And Alex O’Laughlin is pretty. Yup. There is one more attractive vampire in the fabulous world of television.

Will Prison Break will continue with Season 4?

October 28, 2007 Kerri with a "K" 5 comments

Not exactly.

And what do I have to say about that? Uh-uh, not cool!

For a show that was only meant to last one season, this is getting a little old. Prison Break was only renewed for a second season because the ratings were so incredible. And let’s face it. It’s a terrific show.

BUT this rumored development deal FOX is in the middle of for a potential spin-off called Prison Break: Cherry Hill (tentatively titled) is a bit much. No longer will we see Michael or Linc, or even Sucre or everyone’s favorite evil character, T-Bag. All for a cheesy spin-off that may not even happen.

PB: Cherry Hill will take place in a women’s prison with Molly, a middle-upper class woman who is affected by the same company that tried to ruin Lincoln’s life. Allegedly, she will appear either in the middle or towards the end of Prison Break perhaps having something to do with Michael’s second escape.

Seriously? No, seriously? I’m not very optimistic about this. I didn’t even care for PB when it began in the first place, but after one episode I was hooked. What’s more is that I’m starting to sense the end of this show coming quickly. The network is seemingly doing what they did to Veronica Mars by splitting up the major season’s stories into smaller arcs. The end of the first half of this season will be a whole mini-season in itself. That was VM’s downfall.

Will I watch this new version of Prison Break? You bet I will. And there’s no real way of knowing if it will maintain the fan base that the original kept up. Only time will tell. But, I’m all for watching a train wreck.

CBS the first to cancel this season

A freewheeling gambler dreams of opening a casino in Laughlin, Nev., and becomes embroiled in a murder investigation after his ex-business partner is slain. The mystery-drama incorporates contemporary songs in each episode to help tell its story.

I’m actually pretty glad I never got invested in Viva! Laughlin this season.  After only two episodes it was axed… and Hugh Jackman is out of a job.  I actually hadn’t watched a single episode of it, but it’s unpopularity comes as no surprise.  Cop Rock is SOO 80’s!

So, in its place will be the new season of Amazing Race, which I may actually watch this season.  Honestly, although it is sad to see a show canceled before it gains momentum, I couldn’t deal with another new show this season.  Between keeping up with Grey’s Anatomy and trying to decide whether or not I actually enjoy Private Practice, I have enough drama in my tv-watching life.

Red Sox ahead by 3

Yup. I’m eating my words. The Red Sox won last night. They basically stayed ahead the entire game and won 9-5.

Now, I’m not a regular Sox fan, but being within range of Boston does provide some fan-by-association love for the Sox. I guess they’d call me a Pink Hat. Yeah, I cheer when Big Papi gets up to bat, and groan when he strikes out. And I’m all over the Irish jig Papelbon does from time to time. But I won’t watch the regular season. There’s more at stake during the Penant and the Series. There’s more urgency to win, and the games just seem more exciting. To me.

So, the Sox are up by 3 games, making tonite’s game essential for the win. The pessimist in me knows that if the Rockies win tonite, the series has the potential to go on for a full 7 games. However, I’d like to think the losing streak is broken and the Sox can win their second World Series only two years later.

What can I say? I’m just a Pink Hat.
