Up, down, left, right…and what I like about the fall season
I can’t even begin to dissect that last 3 weeks to a month of new fall television. Work has been so crazy that I really haven’t been able to enjoy taking a moment to address all of my gentle readers.
I’ve been rewatcthing Buffy, which has a calming effect on me. You know, things get crazy, but at least I don’t have to save the world tonite. I’ve started trying to put a few episodes into iTunes so I can watch them on my iPhone…when I actually have the time.
A few things I’m not liking about the new fall season are as follows (and in no particular order): Bionic Woman had an interesting start, but it’s one of those shows that after the first episode, I just have no desire to make the effort and remember to watch it. Private Practice is another one that started off as an alright show, but it’s just not good enough to put forth all that effort.
Pushing Daisies is perhaps my FAVORITE new show this season. I like the noir-should-be-on-pay-cable-feel it has to it. Unfortunately, the rumor around my office is that ABC just doesn’t feel that the amount of money the are spending on it to make it have the look and feel it does is worth it. I hope they feel differently by November sweeps.
Grey’s Anatomy is incredible this season as well. It’s managed to maintain the same level of quality writing that it has through the former 3 seasons. I like that George is an intern, but I’m having strong issues with the troika that was inevitable between him, Izzie, and Callie. Not sure how I feel, however, about Meredith’s sister being in the mix, but the actress does have some acting chops. I miss Burke. Christina misses Burke as well, but I miss him, too. Him being gone forces the plot forward, and now Christina doesn’t have to hold back about certain things, which is interesting. You know, I could go on forever about this show. It’s still very soapy, but it’s great.
My other favorite Doctor show, House is doing fantastically this season so far. And I’m sure everyone else had started feeling this way, but I was starting to miss the old team…then they showed up randomly. Some of that storyline is hokey, but it’s good to have them back. I also love, love, LOVE the reality show take on things that House has gone down. Hugh Laurie is still as brilliant as he ever was.
Hmm…what’s next…? Ah, MoonLight. The new vampire drama with Jason Dohring. I’ve really been enjoying this show, but I don’t see it lasting very long. It feels as though it’ll be one of those cult classics that only a handful of people like and will be cancelled after a season. Here’s to hoping it’ll last longer than a season.
I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again. Man, I LOVE being a TURTLE! Okay, okay. I digress. What I’ve mentioned before is how much I love How I Met Your Mother, but a bad taste is still left in my mouth because Alyson Hannigan is still a brunette. Now, there’s nothing wrong with being a brunette. Hell, I’m a brunette. But she was funnier as a redhead. Barney is awesome. Ted got Tramp Stamped. But I think 2 female brunette lead characters is way too much. There was a nice contrast when everyone had different hair. Yes, Alyson, I understand that you may enjoy the dark hair, but to be perfectly honest, I feel it affects the comic relief of the character. Everybody loves a redhead. Case closed.
