The Simpsons Movie
Yeah. I watched The Simpsons Movie this weekend. It was basically like a 90 minute long Simpsons episode.
I almost wonder if FOX put too much stock in the movie, because I really don’t think it lived up to the standard the show set long ago.
Don’t get me wrong, it was funny. Spider pig was probably my favorite part. It has some pretty fantastic dialogue. But I really didn’t feel the same about it as I did the early episodes when the show was just starting to gain its reputation. The early episodes were witty and daring and brilliant in a way that it made fun while backing off certain issues. The newer episodes have been good and watchable, and you can see a twinge of the old episodes starting to shine through.
I will, however, give the movie a good review. The storyline was a little odd, and some of the characters didn’t get enough screentime, but all in all, it was enjoyable.
One of my favorite moments was the opening scene where the Simpson family is at the movies and Homer stands up to say, “Why is everybody watching this lame movie when they could be watching it for free?” Throughout the entire movie, they poked fun at the viewers for random things, including watching the movie.
Yeah, I liked it.
“Spider pig. Spider pig. Does whatever a spider pig does…”
