Buffy Sightings

I’ve mentione about four out of the several cast members from Buffy that I’ve seen in other places doing other things.  Kudos to them.  But I just briefly wanted to mention the other obvious and not so obvious sitings that I’ve seen.

*Alyson Hannigan has a starring role in my current favorite sitcom How I Met Your Mother, which also stars former Doogie Howser star, Neil Patrick Harris.

*Charisma Carpenter had a recurring role on the second season of Veronica Mars as well as a few tv movies: Relative Chaos and Cheater’s Club.

*Nicholas Brendon had a role on a failed FOX show called Kitchen Confidential, as well as co-starring with Charisma Carpenter in Relative Chaos.  Also, expect to see him in a few episodes of Fire Serpant and American Dragon: Jake Long.

*Danny Strong has had a recurring role on Gilmore Girls playing Paris Gellar’s boyfriend, Doyle.

*Wentworth Miller has a starring role on the popular FOX drama Prison Break.

So this now brings my Buffy Sightings Count up to 9 sightings!

Adam Busch in HOUSE

 *Post orginally @ http://lil-cordy.livejournal.com/ in March 2006

Gracing Tuesday night’s House with his presence was none other than Buffy the Vampire Slayer Season 6 Villain, Warren Meers played by Adam Busch. He played a young man, college senior living with his parents, and apparently his mom (stepmom, I think) is such a hottie of the MILF variety. So much so that ‘Warren’ has taken to loving…get this, cows. As a last ditch effort to curb his attraction to his ‘mom’, he has come to see Dr. House for medication to last him until he graduates and can move out. I find this hilarious that instead of incest, he’s open to bestiality, which is equally disturbing….Yuck. Doesn’t make me feel any more excited to see him in another show, if these are the kinds of creepy characters he’s going to play. Complete with dorky glasses and five o’clock shadow, Adam Busch excels at portraying sketchy characters. More to come? I hope not like this.

Tom Lenk in DATE MOVIE

*Post orginially @ http://lil-cordy.livejournal.com/ from March of 2006

As an attempt at curing boredom, we saw “Date Movie” tonite. Funny attempt at spoofing the actual psuedo-genre of the ‘date movie’, which consists of the Harrys meeting Sallys, the empire state building as a universal romantic meeting spot, and often unrequited love that is so sweet it makes you want cry and puke at the same time.

In general, I liked the movie for what it was. It had its moments, both good and bad. But, as with any spoof movie, the best part is pointing out which scene in the movie is a spoof of another movie you saw. Included in this particular movie were laughs at “Napoleon Dynamite”, “Shallow Hal”, “The Wedding Planner”, “Meet the Parents” and “Meet the Fockers”, to name a few.

Ultimately, my favorite part of the entire movie was a scene where Julia Jones played by Alyson Hannigan was taken into a jewelry store to be proposed to and pick out her ring, when out of nowhere, a “Lord of the Rings” spoof came up and smacked you in the face, starring none other than season 6 Buffy villain and season 7 honorary Scooby, Andrew, played by Tom Lenk. So, not only was this movie blessed with the presence of Buffy veteran Alyson (Willow), but the funny Tom (Andrew) makes a nice addition, and adds that special something for those Buffy fans who thought the world was over. So add Andrew to my Buffy sightings list.

Michelle Trachtenberg on HOUSE

*Post was originally @  http://lil-cordy.livejournal.com/ from April of 2006.

I’ve had yet another sighting of a Buffy cast member. Michelle Trachtenberg, who played Dawn Summers, Buffy’s new younger sister and former “key” of season 5, was on House the other night. I thought it was her in the previews, but when I actually sat down to watch the show, it was definitely her. She played a sixteen year old girl, who had a heart transplant and got sick after her mom confined her to a clean room. Turns out, she had sex with her boyfriend, which wasn’t supposed to happen anyway, and there was a tick in her *ahem* pubic hair, which her bf carried in from the yard. She is such a great actor. She pulled the part off quite well. She wasn’t the annoying little sister we’ve come to know and love, she was an only child, rebellious and not in the least bit annoying. It was a great episode.

The scenes with Dr. House and Wilson, who’s living in his house because he left his wife, were really funny. Very college roomatey stuff. I love this show anyway, but it was nice to see a familiar face.

Update:  Also, don’t forget to catch Michelle in the upcoming dvd release of Black Xmas.

Marc Blucas on HOUSE

March 28, 2007 Kerri with a "K" 3 comments

So, now it’s no secret that I love Buffy the Vampire Slayer.  In fact, it’s pretty much common knowledge.  So imagine my surprise to see Marc Blucas gracing us with his sexy presence on my current favorite show, House, MD.   Which now puts my Buffy Sightings count up to six.

Blucas plays an ex-military man who believes he is suffering from “Gulf War Syndrome.”  House is baffled by his presence because he dreamt about his patient saving his life over in Iraq.  So, while trying to solve the puzzle of what’s wrong with Mr. Military Man and who he is, House is also still struggling with his addiction to Vicodin, which now, has forced him to not be able to urinate.

This, at first glance was an episode much like any other: the case takes 40 minutes to solve, leaving 20 minutes for mindless banter and ridiculous flirting.  Chase and Cameron are still having sex.  Foreman still doesn’t believe it.  And Wilson still provides House with presriptions and disapproving looks.  Cuddy, however still warding off House’s advances, makes a psuedo-throwaway comment about how she and House had spent some time together, and that it was more than just friendship at the time….

This was the first of the final 8 episodes of the season, so I’m expecting great things to come.

Prison Break: the end or just the beginning?

Only one episode remains of the second season of Prison Break, and I have to say that it’s just as suspenseful as the day I started watching it. And lucky me (and the rest of the fans), it’s going to continue into a third season.

Every article I’ve read about the show says the same thing: Prison Break was not meant to go passed the first season. Then it was: Season 2 will be the end. And now, I’m excited to announce that FOX has ordered a third season due to it’s high ratings and growing fan base. New cast members will be introduced, as well as a new season theme, which is rumored to be “redemption” or perhaps they will be back in prison. Also, a new name is up for discussion, seeing as though they are now out of prison. Read the article here.

Season Finale

This season, Dirt has been one of the most incredible shows to watch on television right now.  The writers are bordering on brilliant, and so far, no two episodes are alike.

What I’m finding more endearing as the show continues towards the end of the first season is the relationship between Don and Lucy.  They seemingly need each other, and with the previous episodes lack of medication being taken by Don, it seems all too possible that Lucy may end up hurt both physically and emotionally as a result.  Their relationship was an odd one.  They needed each other, as Don is the only person Lucy really has that she can count on…when he’s medicated.

Preview for the seaon finale of Dirt have also been playing frequently.  Jennifer Aniston’s cameo is greatly anticipated, and making her look as dark or darker than Lucy.  Two words: can’t wait!

He’s not gone YET?????

While watching the results show of American Idol last night, I’ve discovered that yes…it is indeed an addiction.

With that said, Sanjaya, easily the worst contestant in the top 12, is NOT GONE YET.  Perhaps it’s a funny joke that the audience decided to play, like they did with Scottie the Body last year (or the year before).  StB was just a jackass, and thought he was waaay better than he actually was, and just kept getting worse by the week.  A few website forum members got together and said “well, wouldn’t it be funny if he was in the top 2?”  And weeks later, he was still on the show until no one could stand him anymore… And I can see such a thing happening again with Sanjaya, except Sanjaya isn’t a jackass, and is genuinely surprised that he hasn’t gone home yet.

This damn show is nothing more than a guilty pleasure, that make you want to puke afterwards, much like cheesecake…if you eat 3 of them whole… It’s just excessive.

And what did I think of the special performance by Diana Ross?  I almost have no words to describe how awful it was.   If she had been an actual contestant on the show, she never would have made it through Hollywood week.  And the song she chose?  Not one of her own.  It was some other song from the 70’s or 80’s that just didn’t suit her, OR come from her ALLEGED new album.  The half empty: it was a letdown.

R.I.P Sherriff Lamb

March 8, 2007 Kerri with a "K" 1 comment

Poor, misguided Sheriff Lamb.  I was a little shocked with the turn of events over the past few weeks.  Granted, this week, due to the sabatical Veronica Mars has taken, there have been no new episodes… So I sat down to catch up with whatever it was that I’ve missed.

And this was a HUGE thing to not watch the first time around.  With Keith on the case of ‘Who shot the Dean,’ Sheriff Lamb felt that there was another suspect other than the obvious Professor Landry.  He wasn’t wrong.  In pursuit of yet another murder (because that’s all people seem to do in Neptune… kill people), Sheriff Lamb and the Deputy came to the rescue, where Lamb gets shot, and ends up in critical condition during the next episode.

And Keith got to play Sheriff again, in Lamb’s absence…Only to get a phone call moments later that Lamb passed away in the ICU.  Even Veronica was sad.

Sure, Lamb was a moron most times, and he enjoyed making Keith look like an ass, but he was a likeable character in an unlikeable way.  He was the perfect anti-hero, in a lame “I’m cooler than you because I’m the Sheriff” sort of way.

Sheriff Lamb, you will be missed.

Also, and this is something I find to be the worst thing ever, Logan has been giving Parker the googly eyes.  Now I know Logan and Veronica are no longer together, but if they’re going to end the show, at least give me that.  I want to see them together and happy.

Jane and BSG!

Jane EspensonBattlestar Galactica will have a new, but similar voice in the upcoming season 4.  Jane Espenson has been asked to sign on fulltime for the show, proving her chops by writing the recently aired episode “Dirty Hands” as well as last year’s popular episode, “The Passage.”

She was interviewed recently by Syfyportal.com where she spoke about having written “Dirty Hands” and the upcoming season of BSG.

Jane is formerly the co-executive producer for Buffy the Vampire Slayer, and has also written episodes of Gilmore Girls, Angel, Firefly and The O.C.
