CBS’s Rules of Engagement aired Monday night. Not gonna lie, I’m a little disappointed. It was How I met Your Mother and ‘Til Death all rolled into one less funny show. It had it’s moments, yes, but I don’t see it being very good so far.
IMDB: “Two couples and their single friend, all at different stages in their relationships, deal with the complications of dating, commitment and marriage. “
David Spade’s character just reminds me of a less funny Barney Stinson from HIMYM: Single, loves playing the field, and is AWESOME…according to himself. I can’t fairly compare the two simply because I love Barney so much more no matter what.
And wait! Don’t those other characters look familiar? Weren’t they on another show? One that failed? Is there a pattern here? Well you’re correct, gentle readers, about having seen them before. David Spade is the obvious one, having been on SNL and Just Shoot Me, playing supporting characters rather than leading ones. Then there’s Patrick Warburton, whom you may or may not remember from The Family Guy as the voice of Joe Swanson, the paralyzed cop. Then comes Oliver Hudson and Bianca Kajlich, who both played love interest for the soulmates Dawson and Joey on Dawson’s Creek, among other things. And last but not least, Megyn Price who played the mother on Grounded For Life.
Well, I’ve never seen them play leading roles, so this may be interesting.
And to be fair, I’m going to give it another chance. Like I said, it had it’s moments, but I definitely need to see the show be original and really stand out. And if for nothing else, Oliver Hudson is definitely good looking, so that may make me want to watch…

Speculation. Speculation. Speculation.
It’s all over the news. Every website, tv channel and radio station are covering an aspect of this story. But most of it is going to be speculation until the autopsy reports come back. And yet again we’ve been sucked into this blackhole of celebrity gossip. If only to make ourselves feel better, because celebrities are indeed dumb and do dumb things and make normal people realize that they are indeed smarter than celebrities.
Of all things in the world to have happened yesterday, this was THE MOST RANDOM thing I could ever possibly think of. Anna Nicole Smith. 39. Dead. And this is “Breaking News.” I’m not cold and uncaring, and I do think this is sad, however, the general census is pretty much that she was on drugs and overdosed, meanwhile the “OFFICIAL” story is that she was ill for a few days and check herself into the hospital as a “guest”…A guest? Doesn’t that typically mean she’s a patient? And if she did this on purpose, I don’t feel bad for her. I feel bad for her child.
I do have specific opinions on this that I will save for the watercooler, because right now they are just opinions, and there are too many other things to worry about.
