Dangerously Lucy

I mentioned in an earlier post that I haven’t been watching much TV this week, which unfortunately means that I’ve missed the latest episode of Dirt. However, I’ve finally caught up to last week’s episode, which involved Don trapsing around with his dead pregnant girlfriend who’s about to give birth, and searching for the head of a hip-hop star, who may have recently been murdered in order to sell more records. Lucy during that episode is dealing with more important things, like her mother getting married on the day her father died 25 years ago, and her brother galavanting around town (while being tailed and photographed) with his gay lover and movie star who hired him for a interior decorating project.
I like the way the writers are developing Lucy. She started off cold and uncaring, and pretty much lacking complexity. But with each episode, we learn a little more about who she was, and why she’s so obsessed with her magazine become numero uno. So, her father commits suicide 25 years ago in front of her and leaves her a note saying that he was doing it for her. No wonder she really won’t get close with anyone. She’s manipulative and cold, but it makes her different. She’s losing friends quickly, except for Don because he thinks Lucy knows what’s best.
She’s a very dangerous character because people trust her. I can’t wait to see what happens when she goes off the deep end. It just seems like the likely natural progression that she will eventually do something so outrageous that she’s really going to hurt someone and not be trusted anymore. She’s far too manipulative to not be trusted. It’s going to be interesting.
Friends in Dirt?

According to Hollywood.com, Jennifer Aniston will join Courtney Cox in her new show Dirt for the season finale to air in March. Aniston will play a rival magazine editor to Cox’s Lucy Spiller, and at the end, rumors say they will share a deep kiss, as Aniston’s character will be a lesbian.
